Finally, an update.
This has been a work intensive build! It’s not like most kits, where you place one piece at a time until it’s finished.
With this one, you have to build groups of cogs. I’m assuming they’ll eventually all fit together, but here’s what I’m looking at after several nights of work. Doesn’t look like a clock yet! 
It’s still a very enjoyable build, just — different.

Yes, I’m staining it as I go.
Yes. Usually, with paint, I paint it all ahead of time. With this, I have to make sure there is contrast between the stain colors. Not to mention, each section has to be built as a group.
