Started formulating the concept of doing a Wax Study going back to November 2025. Why? So many questions by beginners within the puzzle builder groups (here and on FB) kept asking what works? What IF anything is better than standard plain stick wax? Responses varied widely based on many factors which might be totally unique to a specific build, experience, knowledge of the builder, painted or not painted surfaces. I am almost finished compiling the data and arranging it all into a Pay-It-Forward Pro Tip, like my other posted study Pro Tip postings. I had a tonne of fun and learning with developing this study. Stay tuned. Cheers to all the puzzle builders out there. Enjoy your builds.
You can never preach too much about this topic…because I am baffled at the number of people who ask (when doing a wooden model)…“What is the wax for?” Bring it on! I will be looking forward to your studies as I know they are always well documented with your extreme studies. I am really looking forward to seeing your results. Thanks!
I cannot wait to hear! I have only done a few that actually called for wax. I have used wax to help with a difficult piece too. I have also used vaseline. Will see how that goes but I will be interested in hearing your results!
Great topic. I am really looking forward to seeing your results
@Joe-K This is so impressive!!!
I can tell you intend to incorporate control group and experimental groups (correct me if I’m wrong lol), which is a nice way to do comparisons.
Thanks a lot for your initiatives & insights, and I wish you lots of fun and fulfillment in this journey ![]()

This is a nice topic. As myself, I’m also eager to learn this since I don’t have any experience when it comes of using wax in models. Great job. ![]()
omg yes, as beginner, i want to learn more about this. (i haven’t had to use wax yet!)
This sounds fascinating. As a total newbie, I have only used a birthday candle in some difficult interlocking pieces. I really look forward to what you have to say.
Oh! This is definitely something I’ll look forward to! ![]()
I’m a novice when it comes to the ROKR builds having never built once myself, yet. I do have the Dream Factory waiting for me and the biggest tip I’ve picked up is to always wax so your results will be an interesting read.
I’m also a fan of evidence-based studies. ![]()
This is interesting. Ive often thought which wax wud work better x
This is a great study and i can’t wait to read your experiences. I do a lot of Rokr kits and have to wax a lot. I think the wax that came with the kit works well to make the build run smoothly. But I’m curious about your research and results.
I always use a mixture of rolifes wax and liquid wax and it works very good for small spaces that the block cant get to X
This is a great topic. I look forward to read about it.
Interesting, looking forward to see the results ![]()
Wow. Thank you for this!
This is an interesting topic. I see the question asked all the time! I’m looking forward to hearing your hypothesis and findings!
Such a great topic! Waxing really makes a huge difference in ROKR builds. Looking forward to your study and results, this will be super helpful for both beginners and experienced builders!
I like this topic. I am looking forward to further info into this study.
