If you are looking to dive into the world of DIY mechanical models, the Eamon ambient lighting kit from Happy Duke Toys is the perfect place to start. As my very first ROKR kit, I wasl a bit nervous about how this was going to turn out … but I was determined to give it a good go !
The precision-cut wooden pieces fit together beautifully, making assembly an engaging process. A helpful tip for builders: some pieces are quite delicate, so you need to be very careful when removing them from the board, as there is a mix of thick and thin components. I did break one small pieice … but the kit comes with extra pieices !
Seeing the mechanical elements come to life was incredibly satisfying especially being my first mechanical kit ! The kit came with wax … and i did make sure i waxed everything that needed it ! Regarding the lovely lighting, make sure to carefully manage the wire length to ensure there is enough to reach the top and illuminate the teddy bear on the balcony.
I also painted the edges to give it a bit more coulor …
Happy Duke Toys has created a wonderful bridge between a challenging puzzle and a functional light fixture. While I think the roof could have been designed a bit better as it seemed a tad loose to me. The completed model is visually enchanting and provides a proud sense of accomplishment. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to bring a touch of whimsical warmth into their home. Also I would rarther a manual than an encyclopedia as I called it … LOL ..
