Frustrated

THIS is what is happening here in the community right now. One person who joined FOUR days ago is now a community star. They have 21 likes on the christmas plan contest. At least 3 of them are all from the same person using different variations of their name. I hope that Robotime will bring out their IP stuff again like they did a couple of months ago because something is not right here. HOW do you become a community star in 4 days with 0-2 kits, 1 post and NOBODY can see your portfolio or invites. This is the kind of shady stuff that I expected would happen when $$$ is offered. If this post gets flagged and I am outed for doing so, I will miss many of you. You know who you are.

I know where I can find you! Although the intent of the contest is wonderful, it has opened up a large can of worms. and gaining by ill means is never good for those who genuinly are working at it!
I could list several things that seem out of place. If robotime is interested I would be happy to share as well!

Side note, I cannot believe there are three dopplegangers looking the exact same, wearing the same outfits, joining the same group, yet all different. This is of no benefit to those of us whoare genuine.

I just couldn’t keep quiet on this. I am really mad that some people go to these lengths…and that Robotime would not be prepared to investigate these “so’-called” invites. Yes, a huge can of worms has been opened…and if I am outed for doing so, it has been a fun 6 months since I was one of the original participants before they even opened publicly. I just feel something is VERY wrong here….and this is not the only thing… @jeanneL

Yes…someone is NOT the sharpest tool in the shed for trying this stuff. @jeanneL

It seems like everyone else is thinking the same thing as me. There have been a lot of strange things happening lately. I’ve been watching their portfolio. There are very few posts, but they get an incredible amount of engagement. I thought I was being overly suspicious, but it seems the issue is real.

I completely understand your frustration, @Nita_Davis, you’re not imagining it. A lot of us have noticed the same patterns, and something really does feel off. It’s absolutely fair to expect transparency when a reward system is involved, and I hope Robotime looks into this carefully so the community can stay fair for everyone.

Aww man this is honestly such a difficult topic so thank you for voicing this and you’re right it’s a huge can of worms.

I saw your FB comment about how someone in the past made it into the top 10 because they had their family member giving them likes. And I’m actually thinking I’m stupid for not doing that but jokes aside it is a flawed system.

I’ll still continue doing what I do, supporting people and genuinely sharing my joy for this craft.

I think going off IP addresses is a little tricky since your friends and family can be in the same location as you. I’m not against friends and family giving them likes as the competition is about the most likes after all. But I think maybe the points gained can be separated from the usual leaderboard? I remember reading that you have to be contributing regularly to be qualified anyway. I’m not even sure I’m making sense now.

This is so tricky and I’m trying my best to be polite and nice to everyone. :smiling_face_with_tear:

You’re right. This really affects legitimate players. I just want to share my strategies, experience, and skills. I’m unhappy about people using tricks to achieve high rankings. I hope the system will intervene to maintain the integrity of the community.

Yes, it is tricky. The points this person gained will NOT put them in the leaderboard…but it MIGHT get them $100-$300. This is just VERY wrong and I am in awe that the company did not expect this kind of stuff to happen. I get it. Yes, they want to grow their fanbase…but this is NOT how to do it…in my opinion. Handing out money to those who have broadened your fanbase with people who joined only because you literally begged them to do so…and then they create fake accounts on top of that. NOT cool at all. @JDisaduck

There are quite a few other things I’ve noticed as well. For lack of a better word…sketchy. @Wenbare

Wow this is quite shocking to see. Maybe Robotime can change the voting system for the next contest to make things more fair to everyone.

I totally agree with you, @Nita_Davis A lot of crazy things are happening right now, and it’s really affecting the atmosphere in this community. It’s a shame that people want to win this way, but that was to be expected. I think in the future, Robotime shouldn’t make it a contest, but a giveaway.

In all honesty I think it’s very hard for a competition to be fair and square but I haven’t really entered many so I’m not sure if there’s a better way to do this. Creating too many fake accounts is taking it too far.

I try my best to support every post, write thoughtful comments and give likes till I run out because to me, this is contributing to engagement while also earning points fairly. And the majority of us here do the same.

We all know Robotime is a great company and they deserve all the support but next time they have a competition like this I think I’ll sit out and return when it’s over. :face_holding_back_tears:

I agree with your point of view. We all want to build a healthy community for model enthusiasts. Robotime is a great company; I love them. I think for contest like that, they should have a voting group or simply select randomly. Because for me, it’s more about sharing than a competition. To be honest, I haven’t participated in that competition because of those rules.

I agree! I’ve been also looking at some posts and thinking that something fishy is going on. Like never seeing someone post and then all of a sudden they have a post with thousands of likes lol. I was going to actually private message you about it and see if you thought it was fishy, but I didn’t know how you would take it, so I just stayed quiet lol.

Contest are good and so are giveaways. I just don’t think that having a contest where people are requited to invite people is the way to do so. This just opens the door for lots of members who will never ever ever return to this page once the contest is over. They definitely won’t be returning if they are a fake account and I think we have a lot of those nowadays.

@JDisaduck Yes your comments are always thoughtful and fun! I hope mine are the same. I wa sgoing to sit out as well and even though I posted, I am not aiming to win. I posted to share my christmas decor and am satisfied with that. Even for the monthly, I am not pressing for anything and would love to see others get a little something too!
So lets hang in there and continue to do what we do with our intentions good. I need you to be here!
