After sharing photos of my sushi bar, I couldn’t resist adding its neighbor—a takoyaki stand! I don’t remember the brand of these kits, but I would love to have more food stalls to go with these, too.
I enjoyed building this one too, though I have to admit I still love the sushi bar more. This build had a few little challenges that kept it from being as satisfying for me.
The biggest one was the takoyaki itself. I couldn’t get the styrofoam balls to look nicely cooked because the stain included in the kit just wouldn’t stick, even after letting them soak overnight. I also couldn’t shave the toothpick thin enough to make convincing miniature picks, and there wasn’t quite enough filling material for all of the ingredient containers.
Still, despite those little hiccups, it turned out to be a cute addition to the collection, and I’m happy with how the stand looks overall.
Of course, no food stall is complete without customers! This time, Usuhana (another one of my favorites ) stopped by with Hello Kitty to grab some fresh takoyaki. Now the little street food corner feels much more alive!
