Just popping in with a quick update - I’ve worked out a solution for turning the flat 2D leaves on the Sunshine Town tree into fat, fluffy 3D leaves! Sharing in case it’s useful.
After a little trial and error with different kinds of glue and approaches to fluff application, here’s what I’ve settled on:
Step 1: frost with a thick layer of PVA glue or the white glue that the kit came with.
Step 2: pour fluffy leaf pile into paper.
Step 3: flip glue-side down into the leaf pile and press and hold.
Step 4: flip right way up, and let it think about things for a while.
Step 5: pretend to be raking leaves and reform the fluffy leaf pile while the glue dries a bit.
Step 6: give the leaves a little shimmy to knock off the loose fluff.
Step 7: identify any gaps that need a thicker coating and dot glue into those gaps.
Step 8: flip glue side down into the pile, press and hold.
Repeat 4-8 until the fluff factor is satisfactory.
A little tedious working in layers but look how full-bodied this tree is now! This is exactly what I had in mind
this looks great! I have some mini autumn trees I was going to use but This is more diy. I may even try to cut some wood with my cricut and make a tree and use this,
