New year. New spin.
First project this year is the century train.
Has anyone finished this? Was wondering if it’s heavy enough to hold hardbound books (at the edge of a shelf or table) or if I need to reinforce it with something.

I haven’t done this project personally, but I would probably suggest using museum putty (or earthquake putty) to prevent it from sliding around. They’re easy to put on, it grips really well, its easy to remove, and non damaging (which is plus!)
Just use a small pea sized bit on each corner of the bookend and press firmly on a dry, clean shelf … and voila! It won’t budge.
But to be safe, you should probably still get a metal bookend between the book nook and books for better reinforcement if you think you’re going to be using heavier hardbound books.

I’ve always admired this model as I am a fan of trains but have not built this one. I would recommend definitely putting some weight into it if will be an end piece. I’ve used pennies for previous models that needed weight.

Awesome kit. I think it will look cooler if lots of books are in the middle of the train.

I haven’t built this one but I definitely want it some day so I’ll be eagerly waiting for your progress! 
It’s made of wood so I reckon some reinforcement will be needed.

That’s a really cool build and I am considering it for our book shelf. Not much people have made this yet in the community I guess so I will wait for your update on it.
