Event Summary - Robotime Meetup
Pre ambassador: Cathy Strycker
The little town of Mentone, Indiana was the launching site for the first Robotime Craft Meetup in our area! There were 13 enthusiastic guests that registered to join this exciting new adventure. Only two of them had heard of Robotime, Rolife, or Rokr.
This event was setup in a special meeting room at a cozy coffee café. The tall retractable brand poster was set-up right outside the door to help guests easily find where our event was being held. The two smaller posters were displayed inside the room. The amazing kits to select from drew a lot of enthusiasm and chatter as guests talked about which one they might be able to get.
Introductions were made by participants and myself as the pre-ambassador. Many were amazed at the information shared in the brief history about Robotime, their other brands, products, and the amazing attention to detail provided within each product.
We worked on guiding each person on how to register on the Robotiime Community. This was super easy for some and quite the challenge for others. This is one area I would love to figure out a smoother way to navigate the process. Some were not seeing a verification email whether it was in the inbox, trash, or spam folder. Thankfully, everyone was patient and lighthearted about this and we made it past that short and small hiccup!
Next, we held a little drawing to let each person chose a kit to that they would like to work on. It was wonderful that every person was able to get the kit that they wanted and we did not need to make any trades. Instructions and tips about the tools available and the special features that Rolife kits offer that other companies do not were shared. A couple guests also had some tips about glue types and other tools that they like use when building miniatures.
Our building and conversation time was full of laughter and smiles. Yes, there were the occasional moments of frustration when something would not stay put together, but each complication was quickly and favorably resolved bringing happy satisfaction! The bulk of our time building was sprinkled with fun community trivia to gain access to coveted blind boxes!
Egg Town Coffee baked fresh and delicious chocolate chip cookies for our snacks. A bagged cookie was placed at each work space. Guests could select their drink of choice from coffee, hot tea, iced tea, lemonade, or a soft drink. These treats were truly a hit! This arrangement also worked out well as a small thank you to Ethan (the owner of Egg Town) for letting us have the venue for free.
As we worked, crafters were encouraged to write a word or two about how they felt about our meetup to share on video. This pre ambassador is pretty good at catching candid pictures of the action, but not so great with video. There was so much action going on that we all failed to notice that time swiftly had swept past us.
This eager group found it hard to stop working for a few minutes to take a group photo (and one guest had an emergency and had to leave us before photos). Everyone was buzzing to get back to work even as our time had drawn to a close. The owner of Egg Town Coffee was quite gracious and said we could stay another hour if we wanted. Guests were thrilled to keep working and with their projects! As we gathered our kits, there was a lot of chattering about how they could not wait to get home to finish them, show them to family, and about what they might make for their next attempt.
It was a wonderful first experience and I am so thankful that I was given this opportunity to work towards becoming a Robotime Ambassador! The high energy from these participants really made me excited about hosting my next event. While I am sure that there were things that could have been better, each person left feeling good about their experience; including me. I feel incredibly fortunate to have played a part in sharing my love for miniatures and the company with others.
