Day 7 and progress is definitely being made, even if today felt a little slower!
Painting the edges is adding a lot of time to the build—but it’s so worth it for the finished look. I ran out of brown acrylic marker and tried substituting other browns I had on hand, but they were just too different. Had to order another set of the same ones I’ve been using. No compromising on consistency this far in!
Got a sneak peek at the second level lights! They’re not fully installed yet—still have a strand sticking out the side—so they’re not as bright as they’ll be, but I can already tell it’s going to look amazing when everything is in place.
Overall it’s coming together beautifully. Shifting to an easier project for the rest of the evening to wind down.

Do it! edges are not hard and the markers usually last long enough. I got mine late October I think. The black is what is really running out. I can replace that. I admit I have built up my liquids a bit too. @JDisaduck
Oh I will then! Thank you for the encouragement! I contemplated paint vs markers but I find it hard painting the edges with a brush. And with paint I’ll have to mix my own colours and I just don’t see myself being up for the task.
Thankfully, the whole set that I bought was only like $12 so it wasn’t a big deal to buy a second set. They were all just a set of browns that I found on Amazon. I can only do this build for a couple of hours at a time and then I need something that’s less intense so I’m building a book nook at the same time.
Oh that’s good to know! I’ll keep that in mind. I agree with doing an easy build in between and the book nook sounds perfect. I personally don’t like to open more than one kit at a time so when I take a break I engage in other hobbies.
This is such a beautiful kit. You did so well. I generally have the colours in mind that I would like to paint and just get colour paint because I don’t want to run out in the middle of building. You did really well with this kit.
And I’m excited to see it finished! I’m thinking of painting my edges using markers too but I’m worried of running out.
