[DIY & Creativity] A twist on the Fairytale Amusement Park

I’ve often heard people say that they miss some of the little things when a book nook is enclosed.
I saw this idea using another book nook on one of my FB groups and thought I’d like to give it a try with the Fairy Tale Amusement Park.
I’ll admit that it was a process.
The shadow box that I purchased was certainly big enough but I needed to take out the inserts and the back. Then I removed the enclosed door.
I cut cardboard to size and painted it black to enclose the back.

Before starting to build, I had to measure and cut the base board. I used a large craft knife for this and had to sand it down. Trial and error but I’ve learned a lesson for next time. I need to invest in some better tools ha ha
Then I started the build.

I didn’t use the lighting provided because I wasn’t sure how to hook it all up with the USB-C in a shadow box. Instead, I used a one metre string of fairy lights. It’s still too long but until I can find shorter ones or learn how to do my own wiring , it will do.
It’s been an interesting experiment and I did enjoy it, but not sure that I will do too many more. Although, I still have Sea Breeze to do and the box out away for it
Here, is my finished product.

I’m not 100% sure on it, and I should probably have used a different nook. But it was a fun experiment.

And to finish off the post, here are some alpacas I saw today. They were in a paddock with camels and horses.

I am wondering if you flipped the wall placement? so the carousel is against an edge? Idk, but I love that you tried this out! I can visualize this much better now!

It’s a nice idea, and I get that it is a learning process as well. I like the end result very much.

It does look interesting with that setup. That way you get to see more details of the nook.

Thanks Nita. I’m not sure that I picked the right book nook to do this with. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement. But I do live the build itself so I might get it again one day and build it as a nook.

Flipping the placement sounds like a great idea in hindsight, but it would mean pulling the whole thing apart because of the lighting. It’s a leaning experience.

We all live and learn through our building.

Thanks @Jo1. There is definitely room for improvement. The alpacas are great aren’t they? We went to a country market yesterday and they were in a paddock with Clydesdales and camels.

Thanks for saying so. I think I need to improve on my skills for doing this lol

Some farmers here get alpacas to keep in with their livestock. I’m not sure of the reason though.

Thanks Nicole. I think it would have worked better with a different kit.

You do get to see more details and they are very pretty. As Jeanne said, the placement should be changed around but it is too big of a job to do that.

Thankyou. I believe that unless you get up close to a book nook, there are many things that can be missed. This was just an experiment.
