Lol i love the honesty in the community :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: i do personally love the edges even rho it makes the build not realistic :heart:

This is a good discussion. It is a matter of personal taste. Some find bare wood the most beautiful. Personally, I really enjoy painting, and by painting a build, I try to make the engraved details more visible. If a build is already pre-painted, I find it distracting if the edges are not painted, but this is also a matter of personal taste.

For me it’s to either emphasize something like the shark here I did for my granddaughter. Everything else I edged with a furniture marker to hide the nub areas that were sanded flat and makes the brown edges look uneven.

Or to really take it to the next level like here in my coffee factory I not only did every edge but undersides and anywhere plain wood looked to show. This is not something I would do regularly lol. It added a lot of work!

or sometimes I use nothing at all like I did in the treehouse to keep it super organic.

I think this is something very personal and really depends on each person.

Some people love the natural wood look, and others enjoy adding their own touch with paint and making the build more unique. There’s no right or wrong way, it’s all part of the creativity of the hobby :blush:

But, there are builds that, for me, looks even better when they get some paint. But it’s reaaally so personal this discussion hehe
