I started to build the Cuckoo Clock. II arrived to the testing phase in the initial steps - at page 10 in the manual.
You can see in the attached video the testing setup.
Light are working, but the cuckoo does move out from the birds house (or cuckoo’s nest). Nevertheless, the cuckoo is singing just fine, 3 times as it was supposed to do.
I moved manually the cuckoo forward and I noticed that before started to sing, the is a slight move and hear a sort of click of the cuckoo (as he is trying to move forward), but is he is not actually moving and then sings. After which he same slight move and click again as it was supposed for the cuckoo to enter back in the house.
He may be shy. ok but really, may try a few things.
make sure that spring inside was placed down securely and correctly
Check those metal arms on the bottom by windows. Be sure those are attached correctly
If you have batteries in, try removing them completely. Test with the USB only plugged in. This is how they suggest to use anyways and taking batteries out at end of build is a mess to do.
Meanwhile, I am sure Customer service will see and might have a stronger suggestion. These are the most common causes!
I would open nd make sure everything is still in place. Chances are Cust. serv will want to see as well. Your video was perfect by the way. They will review that as well.
At first I thought it was that h piece not locked in but your cuckoo is set crooked and the wings do not look like they open. I would look at your cuckoo to make sure L6, L8, and L11 are all set properly. I will also let CS review!.
@VasileNedelcu Hi, welcome to our community!!!
It’s a bummer that you came across these setbacks
I’ve forwarded your request to our customer service colleagues; they should be able to help u
Have fun here!
The jamming is most likely caused by the metal connecting rod. You can try removing the metal connecting rod to test if it can move in and out normally. Then reinstall it and push and pull repeatedly to locate where the jamming occurs.
Thanks a lot for trying to help with the Cuckoo not moving issue.
@jeanneL, indeed, I have noticed wings don’t open. Something wasn’t perhaps entirely right when assembling the cuckoo and wings don’t open and don’t span. I don’t mind if wings don’t open, though I would like for the bird to move out. Thanks for your help.
First movie shows the cuckoo rod disconnected from the 2 small metal springs. I tried to move the cuckoo forward and backward and it is moving fairly OK, but at the end (towards the back of the cuckoo’s nest it is moving a bit harder, but it is not jamming.
In the second movie I had the testing using the power from the USB-C adaptor and here is what I noticed:
I started with the cuckoo fairly in the backward
the spring can be seen it is engaged and moves the cuckoo forward
after the 3 sings it disengaged and moves the cuckoo backwards
when I pressed the switch again to on, the spring is engaged but it is not moving the cuckoo forward
cuckoo sings 3 times
the spring disengages and cannot move the cuckoo backwards as the bird was already in that position
when pressing again the switch to ON position, the spring works, but it doesn’t move the cuckoo at all
Reporting back on the issue with the Cuckoo not coming out when it sings. Link to the video shows the Cuckoo is now coming out when supposed to do so.
I spent a lot of time “debugging” this matter.
Indeed, it was a jamming, but in the least expected place.
The rod on which the Cuckoo is placed moved just fine.
But it turned out that:
for whatever reason, the Cuckoo had the tendency to move its body slightly to the left (even so in numerous time I moved his body towards the center of the rod, parallel aligned with the the long side of the rod)
because of the above, cuckoo’s head didn’t had enough place to move forward and thus is stopped moving forward
essentially, Cuckoo’s head was leaning to the left, while his tail was leaning to the right - even though he was in full upright position and his base was correctly installed)
so, I had to make some space in the frame of the door/window for Cuckoo’s head s
We try hard to be supportive and helpful to others. Often this is through our own errors or hearing others and customer service suggestion. I am glad you got the problem fixed! This is such a beautiful build!
