Cuckoo Clock: Slowly Coming Together

Today I started working on the upper part of the clock, where everything comes together: the clock mechanism itself, the pendulum, the cuckoo, and the battery box. As always, Bochi and Alvin were keeping me company while I was building. Luckily they’re grown up now and don’t try to steal the pieces anymore… but I do have to keep an eye on the light cables, they spot them instantly and sometimes try to nibble them :joy:

Once the hands and the pendulum were in place, the whole piece fit perfectly onto the top of the structure, and that’s when it really started to take shape. So far, everything has been fitting smoothly with no issues at all. I just had to be extra careful with the clock hands, as they’re quite delicate and can bend easily.

As for setting the time… I think I’ll ask my husband for help. I already know I’ll mess it up and the cuckoo will start singing at the most random moments

As I’m not feeling very well, I’ll leave it here for now. Next time will be all about continuing with the wiring, starting on the roof, and adding more details. I’m really excited to keep going!

Haha, that’s exactly what I think! :joy: They’re always around, watching every move… I just love them so much :see_no_evil_monkey:

Thank you!! As soon as I feel a little better, I’ll continue. My plan is to finish it between today and tomorrow if I can :see_no_evil_monkey:

I’m curious to see how the cats will respond to the bird moving.

Your companions are so cute :grinning_cat: looks like they want to watch the cuckoo bird come out of the house hehehe

You’re making good progress. Take some rest and hope you’ll feel better soon.

I showed them while I was doing the testing, and they just stood there looking at it and sniffing to see what it was. They didn’t try to attack it :joy::joy:

I think you are handling the challenges of this kit very well. And it’s good to have help from your partner.

It’s really nice to be able to use the “husband wildcard” when I get stuck, honestly :joy::joy:

I thought this kit would be much more complicated than it actually is, and so far I’m amazed at how much fun I’m having more than anything else.

I am not surprised that you feel that way. RORK models are pretty intuitive. People with skill and determination are likely to have success.

I love your cats!! They are such babies!! :face_holding_back_tears::cat::cat:

Thank you so much! I totally agree, once you get into the flow, everything feels very intuitive. I’m really enjoying the process and feeling more confident with each step

Thank you. I’m torn between a cuckoo clock and a coffee shop. Maybe I’ll start with the coffee shop so I can share it with everyone.
