Exactly! I just bought the owl clock, said “new with tags”. It was open, and partially built! (This one was off of Mercari). When I called her out on it, she said " What do expect from a thrift store buy?* New, without tags, never opened,but from a thrift shop. Mercari gave my money back and suspended her. I guess you are just taking your chances when purchasing like this. But, most of the time, it really pays off!

It’s good that Mercari gave your money back. Some sellers are sneaky. The other one even claimed that she never opened the box and check. I think they are also getting them from thrift stores like goodwill and resell them on Mercari.

That’s so sad. I have never made a FB marketplace purchase…or sold anything there, either. Dishonest people literally suck.

Fb marketplace is always a hit or miss. We also have some issues here in Hawaii where the seller doesn’t show up or asking for some sort of downpayment first.

I don’t do zelle or Venmo or any of that stuff…and I would probably not want to meet at some random place for exchange of money. It’s hard to tell who you can trust these days.
