This is how far i got in a afternoon when painting for the first time and all i had to do wer the edges of this board and a little bird. I sanded the edges and applied at least 4 coats of paint. Because it had to dry each time it tought ke another lesson in patience haha. Still the result is oke but not yet planning on painting the pinball machine just yet🤣. Ow and i made flowers haha. These wer easy to do. The big improvement to cheaper kits is that the paper is thicker and the stem if the flower is harder so it goed throu the flower more easily. With cheaper kits the stem is to weak and also the flower crumbles when you try to put something through the hole.
Looks awesome
edges are the hardest to paint. It covers the least well, so you sometimes have to apply multiple coats. I’m also not very patient and always paint all the edges, then when I reach the edge where I started, I immediately apply a second coat if necessary. So far, this has always worked well, and I don’t have to wait for it to dry completely.
It’s looking great. Yaye you did your first flowers. The flowers are the same as the one I got. I added a little glue to the top part of the stem so when the flowers go through. The flower will stay and 1 spot. You have done a great job there
Yeah i do the same and actually posted this as a tip in a earlier build. These are doable but the full papercut flowers or these that are in this kit but then the cheap kit ones with the very soft paper are horrible
I trie to do the same for 2 layers and then let it dry longer. I also find it easier to paint using daylight instead of lamp for this white paint. It’s easier to see where you need to put more paint
aww I love this last pic. The tiny tea cup! Ok so maybe I do not want to paint. I had to paint some of the walls in Cathys and it did dry fast but it was hard to wait between
Looks like youre having fun and learning lots from this build! Youre doing amazing from what i can see
The edges are always a pain lol!
wow. these are looked great. Hope you make soon
Agree 100% @Liset
It’s looking very nice. Your flowers look really good. I am currently building flowers for the Dreamy Garden House.
definitely. it happens to me too. the lamp that I got wasn’t bright enough hence it was uneven. so later on I end up having to pain another layer.
@Jerry_Boswijk I bought this lamp at Action. It’s battery-powered and easy to store because the handle is flexible. It has three light settings, which I always use when painting so I can see everything better. The battery lasts long enough for an evening of crafting, and I charge it during the day.
Thanks for the tip. I will look into that.
I don’t mind the painting but the waiting is hard haha. I sometimes make other parts in between to keep going. I’m learning new skills and that is fun
Thanks so much
Yeah im getting better at them so maybe i do one with more flowers in the future
Welcome to the world of DIY Painting!
I only paint in natural daylight. Never at night.
It looks great for your first time painting! Four coats really paid off — the finish looks so smooth. And those flowers sound lovely too; I totally agree, the thicker paper makes such a difference!
Glad you are enjoying it @Jerry_Boswijk
