Cello not playing smoothly

Hey again!

I’ve been making the Cello music box and during the first test for reasons I don’t understand the bow and gears only moved when turned clockwise, not counterclockwise. I continued on, got to the end, and now when you turn the key it will play, but not smoothly.

The dots on the gears line up, the arrows on the gears line up, the R is upright and on the Right, all gears move smoothly otherwise, it’s just when you turn the key something is getting.. stuck.

See videos for examples!

Any help greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry I can’t you because I don’t have kit. But I tagged @CustomerService for help you

What exactly do you mean by turning it counter clockwise? That unwinds the screw. It is only meant to be wound turning it clockwise.

Also, your bow appears to be upside down as my arrow is facing the opposite direction and mine works perfectly.

Hello there, Please try using sandpaper to gently smooth the edges of this gear. Then, wind up the movement by turning it until it can’t be tightened any further.

What do you mean by ‘wind up the movement’??

Oh, the music box bit?

In the video, this action means to wind the movement until it can’t be turned anymore.

I sanded it and re waxed the gear. Turned the key/movement until it couldn’t be turned anymore. It plays fully, but still does a small hitch at the start of the change to that gear.

I usually just turn it one direction which Is clockwise. Did you sand and wax it well?

Sanding and waxing is very important for this type of construction

I hope the tips from Customer Service help you get it running smoothly
You’ve already tried a lot, so fingers crossed a bit more sanding and tweaking does the trick!
