Hi there! ![]()
I’m finally bringing you the latest update for this innovative Halloween kit!
Honestly, I see it more as a mystical, mysterious kit than a Halloween one—hehe—but I’ll certainly back that up with reasons.
I’m not a Harry Potter fan, but my partner is, so—like it or not—I’ve picked up a thing or two about it, haha. Plus, I’ve been to the Harry Potter areas at Universal Studios in Tokyo several times, visited the new Harry Potter museum in Tokyo, and also went to the Harry Potter theme park at Universal in Orlando.
I mean, I basically have to know Harry Potter stuff, haha.
So, what’s the deal with this Harry Potter thing? Well, I think this kit was inspired by Harry Potter in many ways.
The first one is that roof with those hanging keys—they are on transparent crosses, yes—but they are keys with wings.
In the movie, those keys actually fly!
We continue with more coincidences.
These boxes, created and displayed in the open shop window, are the Harry Potter Chocolate Frog boxes; they have the same sticker and the same shape.
Nothing gets past me, Robotime. ![]()
That cute little flowerpot with that little figure!
It’s in the botany class; it’s the well-known mandrake that screams when you pull it up.
Apart from the broom, the one in the shop window is very similar to the ones that appear in Harry Potter.
or the wand boxes stacked in the back—the colors and shapes…
Something I found amusing—though I’m not sure if it has anything to do with Harry Potter, since there are dragons there too—is the three colored eggs.
They might actually be from Harry Potter, but hey, they really remind me of Game of Thrones!
And well, lots of other things, haha—but let’s leave it at that, or else this will go on forever!
One thing I love about this kit is that the display case opens, but what I don’t like is that there’s no stop when closing it; it slides too far inward and can end up looking like the next photo.
I don’t know, a window stopper would be great. It opens so easily—maybe a magnetic one? Would that be a crazy idea?
Without light, it is a very, very dark kit where hardly anything can be seen.
The magic happens when it lights up; you really appreciate everything so much more.
I love the top part; plus, the background rotates and we can choose between two options. The downside is that only one has a light—if you rotate it, the one at the back is darker.
And it doesn’t have a protective plastic film.
I don’t like the door on the outside of the kit in the wood finish; it doesn’t go with the lid—it would have been better in lilac.
I love the method for rotating the top base—it uses that sun-shaped piece at the top, and it spins quite smoothly. You have to get the sanding step right for it to turn well, though, or else it will get stuck.
And now for the part I like: the positives and negatives.
Pros:
-
A kit that’s a mix of Halloween, Harry Potter, and mystery themes
-
The lilac color tones
-
The number of accessories included
-
The display case opens
-
The upper background rotates
-
The mechanism for rotating the upper background
-
Power button
Cons:
-
The stickers tear very easily, and some are defective.
-
The top section lacks a protective plastic cover.
-
It doesn’t come with a wax bar to help the top section rotate more smoothly.
-
When moving it, some attached accessories fall off.
-
It runs on batteries, and the compartment is underneath the kit! Having to flip it over is risky—pieces fall off; I’d prefer a USB-C cable!
-
The exposed door is brown and looks ugly.
-
The kit is very dark; no natural light gets in anywhere.
And now, here is the video I created for this kit! I hope you like it!
