After finishing the sakura flower, I really felt like moving on to the purple moth orchid. I’ve helped the five girls in my class build theirs, so I do have some experience with this flower, although I know they found it quite challenging, and a few parts didn’t fit perfectly for them and I couldn’t be with them helping with every step.
My first mission this time was to go full research mode and look up real orchids. (I’m loving doing this with this kit, really
) I wanted to keep the original colors, but also add a little something extra. I noticed that the central part of the flower is often a different color, and after looking at many references, I found some with a white center… so that’s what I decided to do.
Honestly? I really love the result!!!
Just like with the sakura, I reached that point where you think: “Well, let’s try… and if I mess it up, it’s already too late”
. I would have kept going even if I hadn’t liked it (though knowing myself… I might have ended up buying another one to make it exactly how I wanted
), but I truly think they turned out perfect like this.
One thing I did notice, and I don’t know if this happens to you too, is that when I follow the instructions, the orchids feel upside down to me. Even looking at the general bouquet instructions in color, where all the flowers are shown placed together, they still look reversed to my eyes… so I guess that’s how they’re meant to be. But since I didn’t love that, after one of the final steps where the flower gets flipped, I removed them and placed them the way I like them best.
And finally… a little surprise! My sister came over today and spend some time with me. And what did she take the chance to do? If you look at this photo, you’ll find out
.
I couldn’t take many process photos because I was focused on my flowers and she was busy with her kit, but I’ll show it in more detail in another post. It’s reaaaaaaaaally adorable, and she managed to finish it in one go!! ![]()
I hope you’re all having a lovely Saturday. Thanks so much for reading! ![]()
