[Beginner Tips] Help with YouTube please

Yes! Up voting this wise comment - I’ve made videos and hosted on YouTube for my classes, and uploading them as unlisted means anyone with the link can view them, but they aren’t indexed for searching or visible to anyone else.

You’re always welcome!

That is so weird though…because I was able to share it straight thru Messenger by using the share button…but they were not allowed to view it when I copied the link.

That is weird. I just googled and it said that this might happen if the video is changed to private, it’s been taken down by YouTube, or is the incorrect link. The advice from the AI was to get the shareable link directly from YouTube Studio, but I’m guessing that is where you got the link from in the first place.

Geez, I don’t know. As previously stated, I am NO tech wizard…SO I am just going to make it public so that I can FINALLY share this 3 hour model that took me like 10-12 days…LOL!

The nice thing about Youtube is that it pretty much ignores us if we don’t post regularly and we have a handful of videos, so it’s unlikely that anyone else will see it.

I went ahead and made it public so I could share here. Thanks for your help

No problem, I think it should be pretty safe. You can disable comments if you’re concerned about outsiders negging your work or our hobby, too.

That is not my concern if you mean negative replies…but thank you. @Melinda

Thank you for the valuable information @Anje_Leonoza_Mira :folded_hands:

Yes, sorry, that’s what I meant - I’m always a bit nervous to post much in public social media spaces.

I am not. Haters gonna hate…and it’s usually those who are envious.

je ne peux taider mais hâte de voir la vidéo

@Nita_Davis for sharing a YouTube video only with people who receive the link, choose ‘Unlisted’ rather than Public or Private. Once it finishes uploading, copy the video link and paste that link wherever you want to share it; anyone with the link can view it, but it will not normally appear in search or on your public channel page.

@Anje_Leonoza_Mira this is exactly the right distinction: Unlisted keeps the video out of normal search and public channel browsing while still allowing link sharing. The reminder that anyone with the link can forward it is important too—thank you for explaining both the convenience and the privacy tradeoff clearly.

In the end, I did have to make it public…and IF you use background music, your post can be no longer than 60 seconds. @joy.licerio
