I use the thing in the pictures. I use the tray to sand over so my work table doesn’t get all messy in little wood things
I use a very small brush to apply glue. A toothpick is also nice, i used it to in the past but sometimes is difficult to reach certain places. What do you use the tierips for?
I don’t really use anything that is not provided. I’ve seen those tweezers for the little pieces, but there’s just something about trying to do it with your fingers (even when sometimes is harder) that brings some satisfaction. And the other tools you may need (sandpaper, wax, screwdriver, etc) are usually included in the kit.
The only thing that I do have is glue, but just for emergencies (like a broken piece with no provided replacements).
Razor blade, hammer, needle nose pliers, magnifying glass, wax, sandpaper, paring knife. All of these items are always within an Arm’s Reach
@Jerry_Boswijk the tierips are a left over from one of the plastic flower kids
What do you use wax for?
Sometimes some pieces are not that easy to fit and a little bit of sand and/or wax here and there makes it easier.
Also, a lot of the Rokr and Rolife mechanical kits use engines and stuff like that, and you need to wax them (and, in general, most of the pieces of any kind that are supposed to move or to be in contact with movable pieces) in order for them to move and/or turn smoothly.
I haven’t done any ROKR kits yet, but that will be changing soon! ![]()

Highly recommended!
My first one was the Seahorse Barque and I received a wax bar, but I only had to use it one specific time. Now I’m building the Dream Gift Factory and I’m waxing almost half the pieces that goes in the “belly” of the structure and the mechanisms. I never get bored with it! Wax, wax, wax. Wax on, wax off. Mr. Miyagi knew some things!
I like the little files you have!
They make it nice to get into smaller nooks and crannies, but I have to be careful when I use them since the metal tends to bite into the wood pretty harshly if I press to hard.
Thats some next level set up right there.
I am hoping to start rearranging one of the other rooms in the house to expand some. Right now all of my supplies are stacked up so that I have to go through them when I am trying to find something.
On the wooden models, I use wax for all gears and anything that moves. It also helps if pieces are stubborn to go in @Atropex
Does the wax come with the kits? I have the Christmas factory coming in the mail, just want to make sure I’m prepared!
Sometimes it does not (per customs). I have received it with all of my ROKR kits, but many have not. A birthday candle is perfectly fine @Atropex
You should definitely try Rokr kits. They are very cool to build
Do you usually order your kits online from the Robotime store? Or get them from brick and mortar stores?
